Socks 101

Description

Are you in love with all the pretty sock yarns but not sure how to make socks out of them? This class is for you!

Afraid of using traditional sock yarns, which run thinner than you might be used to? For this class, instead, we’ll pair DK-weight yarn and size 3/3.25mm double-pointed needles for a perfectly cozy, thick house sock. The construction and methods all translate seamlessly when the time comes that you choose to put that special skein of sock yarn to use!

Broken up over four class sessions, we’ll work through the parts of a sock so you, too, can wear your own cozy woolen socks this winter!

**Class students will have homework to do in-between class sessions so they are ready to proceed to the next step**

Dates Options:

• Wednesdays, June 5th-26th, 10:30am
• Thursdays, June 6th-27th, 5:30pm
• Sundays, June 2nd-23rd, 12:30pm

Skill Level: Intermediate – Students need to know how to cast on, knit, purl, and be familiar with knitting in the round.

Class agenda:

• Week 1: Basic sock construction, casting on, knitting the cuff
• Week 2: Making the heel flap
• Week 3: Knitting the heel turn and gusset
• Week 4: Finishing the toe

Materials required (not included in class fee):

• Size 3/3.25mm double pointed needles (come in sets of 5)
• 100g of DK-weight yarn
• a locking/removeable stitch marker for marking the beginning of round
