Camp: July 13th, 14th, & 15th from 8am to 12pm
Opening (Friends and Family) Friday Night: July 16th 6:30 – 8:30pm
Open House Weekend (Community): 17th – 18th 1pm – 9pm
(Walkthrough style weekend is Saturday and Sunday for the community. There is no need for your child to be present during this time.)
This camp will be three half days in a row designing, building, crafting, and painting a life-sized set in the studio with an opening night Friday night for friends and family. The set will be up for display Saturday and Sunday of that week for an open house-style walkthrough for the community.
Middle schoolers and high schoolers are welcome, instructors will give history, problem-solving skills, and lead kids in crafting a set as a group while fostering each kid’s creativity. We will cover 100 beginner level skills to 300 advanced level skills during this camp, however, all skill levels are welcome. The instructor will be able to include all equally with tasks and fun because it is a group project!
We will spend the mornings creating, snacking, and doing theater studies in and out of the studio all within walking distance. We will be stopping in at the Palace Theater for a lecture on how to design for stage and pavilion settings. The theme this year is Lost World: Under the Sea. Snacks and drinks are provided all three days and for the open house. All materials for the building set are also provided.
We encourage friends and family to come to see the kid’s amazing work at the end of the project.
